Ian Strelec started shooting film just over a year ago, inheriting his grandfather's Rolleicord VB before purchasing a Mamiya 7 II for landscape work. Based in Zagreb, he spent this past summer visiting idyllic places like Rastoke in Croatia and Bosnia's Jajce watermills with three lenses and Kodak stocks. The "relatively compact" system delivered what he needed for long treks. These images span the signature landscapes of two storied countries, from travertine cascades flowing through moss-covered rocks to Ottoman-era wooden structures. Film reignited something digital never managed for Strelec and pushed him out on multi-day trips he'd been putting off for years.
