Previously a professor in the United States, Laura Alice Watt moved to Iceland's Westfjords in 2020. She arrived on a research grant and decided to stay. She now lives on the shores of Dýrafjörður and photographs the region using various gear including Polaroids and pinholes. The Westfjords are remote and sparsely populated and Watt's images capture that isolation. In this selection, the Polaroid format softens the harsh landscape while the pinhole work creates dreamlike blur. Photographing since an early age, she's found a place she can document forever.
