Ivan Ovchinnikov (@chiile_) shoots women who look like they're between thoughts, caught in moments where performance hasn't quite started or may have ended. His studio portraits isolate faces against seamless gray; outside, he places the same subjects in natural surroundings of rural Russia. His approach has models holding the camera's attention without commanding it. What makes the work compelling is how much they give away through effortlessness.
